The Higher Education Authority (HEA) has welcomed with great delight the appointment of Honourable Dr. Brian Mushimba, MP, as the new Minister of Higher Education.

Dr. Mushimba is a well accomplished scholar with Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, two (2) Masters degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and a Master’s of Science in Engineering Management, and a Postgraduate Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Engineering.

HEA Director General, Professor Stephen Simukanga, expressed his delight and anticipation for HEA being guided by the Honourable Minister.

“This can only mean good news for our continued efforts in Ensuring Quality in Higher Education in Zambia, as the appointment by His Excellency the Republican President of Zambia of the Honourable Minister, Dr. Mushimba, to continue from where the outgoing Minister, Professor Nkandu Luo, MP, left in leading the Ministry of Higher Education and every aspect, therein, including HEA, in realising a quality higher education in Zambia,” Professor Simukanga said.

The newly appointed Minister of Higher Education formerly saved as the Minister of Transport and Communication from August 2016 until his appointment as Minister of Higher Education.

The entire HEA Management and Staff are delighted to welcome the Honourable Minister of Higher Education and wish him tremendous success as he implements the vision that he has to drive the quality provision of higher education in Zambia.

Prof. Simukanga thanked the outgoing Minister of higher Education, Professor Luo, for guiding the Authority in ensuring that the higher education institutions adopted quality assurance norms in the provision higher education to our citizens.
